Urban Adamah in Berkeley, CA seeks a Public Programs and Site Rentals Associate to serve as the key support member for all public events and rentals on the farm. The Associate will have a range of responsibilities including hosting farm events and facilitating community building, hosting site rentals, marketing our public programs, and providing administrative support. Specific responsibilities are described below.
Hosting Public Programs: Supporting and collaborating with the Public Programs Manager and working with other staff and external vendors to deliver high quality, on- brand, mission aligned programming to the broader community. Personally hosting many events, welcoming and helping participants connect with one another, and acting as support staff for other events. Types of public programs include Jewish holiday celebrations and festivals, sustainable agriculture workshops, mindfulness retreats, concerts, and trainings. Administrative work includes supporting the Public Program Manager in program development, follow-up, and evaluation.
Site Rentals: Serving in the role of site rental host for as many rentals as make sense given other responsibilities above. This role includes setup and breakdown of spaces as well as all logistical and administrative work required for these events. It does not include booking events.
Outreach and Marketing: As needed, provide marketing support, working primarily with social media, our website, and email to market and recruit for all Urban Adamah programs.
Other Responsibilities: Urban Adamah has a very lean staff. The Public Programs and Site Rentals Associate may be asked to support the organization in other ways as needed. This may include representing Urban Adamah within the greater community of the Bay Area in a variety of ways.
Supervision: The Public Programs and Site Rentals Associate will be supervised by the Public Programs Manager.
We are looking for an energetic, organized, and self-motivated individual to join our Public Programs and Site Rentals team. The candidate must have experience in organizing and hosting high quality events for groups of different sizes and demographic makeups. A high level of emotional maturity, strong written and verbal communication skills, comfort welcoming and orienting large groups of people, a consistent and strong work ethic, and a desire and willingness to learn are also required for this position. Strong skills in using social media and other online tools in a professional setting is also required. Ideally, the candidate also has experience working with caterers and/or maintaining food preparation areas. This individual should be in personal alignment with the mission of Urban Adamah, which is to use the tools of mindfulness, sustainable agriculture, social action and Jewish spirituality to build a more loving, just, and sustainable world.
Compensation and Schedule: This is a full-time position that includes full-time benefits as outlined in Urban Adamah’s Personnel Code, including health care coverage and paid time off. This position will require availability to work between 9am and 5pm on most weekdays and most weeks will include work done on weekends and/or evenings. A schedule of a 40 hour work week will be maintained in consultation with the supervisor. Salary commensurate with experience.
